Version1.08 of Re(ve)lations REPLACES ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS!!
What is Re(ve)lations?
A very simple – but VERY EASY TO USE – relational database management system.
Features:
-> A basic set of relational algebra operations, which can be nested to produce complex queries.
-> A graphical query language specially developed for Re(ve)lations. No support for character-based queries (e.g. queries in SQL format) – and good riddance to them!
-> Access to multiple databases at the same time.
-> Data import and export in tab-delimited format.
-> Multi-user architecture.
Re(ve)lations may be included on the info-mac CD-ROM or on any other non-profit CD-ROM.
Re(ve)lations Version History:
1.05 First public release.
1.06 Recompiled for compatibility with the PowerMac Modern Memory Manager
Improved compatibility with two-byte characters (Japanese, etc).
(Attribute names should still be written with 1-byte characters.)
1.07 Fixed bugs (some fatal, SORRY...!) which were introduced in version 1.06.
Improved handling of input ('enter' and 'tab' key input) in spread sheets.
Improved compatibility with two-byte characters (Japanese, etc).
1.08 Improved interface for deleting tuples.
Fixed a problem when reading keys containing two-byte characters.
Known bugs:
* A True Type version of Times must be available for the manual to be displayed correctly.
* The cells in a Query spread sheet can be edited, but changes will be lost. (This is an 'intentional' bug -- maybe you want to edit the values a little before you select them and paste them into a spread sheet or word processing application.)
* Still no new manual. SORRY. I really will try to improve the manual as soon as I have some free time...!
Future plans:
I have a lot of suggestions and requests for improvements, as well as some ideas of my own. Please let me know what you want. You might find it in the next version!
